Hazel Folland - ceramics

It wasn’t until I was in my forties that I was introduced to ceramics at Plymouth College of Art and Design.

Now clay is a way of life.

Always interested in wildlife and never without a pet or two, animal sculpture soon had me hooked.

My work is hand-built from stoneware clay and then glazed and fired, using various techniques including raku.

My aim is to add individual character to each piece.

William Morris is recorded as having said: “Have nothing in your house which is not either beautiful or useful.”

I would like to add: “or makes you smile!” - and I hope they do.
